Captains Message 2009

I would like to extend a very warm welcome to you all for the 2009 season at Drayton Park Golf Club. I very much enjoyed my year as Vice Captain, it is now a great honour and privilege to represent you and the club as Captain.

We have an excellent golf course at Drayton, one which can set a challenge but is a fair test for golfers of all levels. Unlike my golf it continues to improve year on year!

In terms of golf, I look forward to the year ahead with great expectations and hope that together we will have a lot of enjoyment and fun along the way. I hope to have the opportunity to play golf with as many of you as time allows, and I look forward to seeing members and their families at our social functions throughout the year.

This year I will be linking up with our new golf professional, Jonathan Draycott, for monthly Captain and Pro challenge matches. Look out for details of these and book early so we can try and cater for all of you that wish to play.

I also intend to build on the success of the Par 3 league and Roll up evenings that were run last year. I can highly recommend the Par 3 evenings as they proved to be not only a lot of fun but good for your game as well.

All members can participate in a wide range of competitions and team fixtures. Look out for details of these on the club notice boards. No partner no problem, just let us know and we will arrange for you to be paired for the event. Your continued support for these events is very important.

Last year’s social events were very well supported with the Annual Dinner, the Captain’s Day Pig Roast, the Four Nations, Night Golf and the New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance all being memorable events. I hope this year to continue to build on this success.

My chosen charity for this year is the ACE Centre, which is based in Oxfordshire. The Ace Centre is a charity dedicated to transforming the lives of children with complex disabilities who struggle to communicate.
